Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, and Starmed Medical Rescue Systems today announced the release of the Propaq LT Ambulance Mount, a robust, lightweight ambulance mounting solution for the Welch Allyn Propaq LT patient monitor that gives emergency caregivers fast, easy access to the device while maintaining safe, secure transport monitoring. The new system, manufactured exclusively by Starmed for the Welch Allyn Propaq LT, is available to emergency service providers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
"At the scene of an emergency, a few seconds can be the difference between life and death," said Eric Allyn, Welch Allyn vice president for Emergency Medical Services. "With the ability to quickly and securely attach and detach the Propaq LT from the ambulance walls, carry it to and from the scene of an emergency, and even mount it on a stretcher during first response and transport situations, emergency caregivers are better equipped to concentrate on the delivery of quality healthcare with this new solution. It makes a great monitor even better."
Made from advanced lightweight aircraft metal, the Propaq LT Ambulance Mount adds a new dimension of safety to the Propaq LT. When responding to the scene of an emergency, the caregiver simply detaches the mount--equipped with a compartment to hold all accessories-- from a bracket on the ambulance wall and carries the monitor to the patient. During transport back to the ambulance, the mount clips to the rails of the stretcher, and once back in the ambulance, the monitor simply reattaches to the wall.
"We worked with Welch Allyn to develop a support mounting system that helps meet the unique needs of the specialized emergency environment," said Rene Stern, general manager at Starmed. "It's incredibly lightweight, saves time, and holds up to the bumps and bruises common in emergency situations. The Propaq LT and ambulance mounting system simply help caregivers provide the best patient care at the scene of an emergency."
The mounting system meets the requirements for shock and vibration according to EN 1789 as well as for Emergency Landing Conditions CS 27.561.
The new Mounting System will be exclusively sold through Starmed in Ulm, Germany.
Released in 2006, the Propaq LT is among the smallest, lightest, and most robust patient monitors on the market today. Weighing about one kilogram and the size of a paperback book, the device continuously monitors blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry, and respiration. Its compact size, simple operation, and rugged construction (it can withstand a drop from up to two meters and still function) make it an ideal monitor for emergency situations.
